One of my designs for the shack included a desk to fit into the area. This desk, in an L-shape, would have stacks of "Rig Drawers" (drawers sliding on full extensions so I can slide them out to get access to the back of the radio-- see the plans for them here) This is one of the latest configurations of that idea where the "Drawers" sit on a desktop:

Note that the door into the room is on the right, so I envisioned bookcases built to cover up the wires coming out the back of the "Drawers."

Below is another, similar concept, without the bookcases -- In this design, the two stacks of "Drawers" on the left extend all the way to the floor and the Drawers provide rack mounting of the equipment. These two stacks of drawers would also be on wheels so they could be pulled away from the wall. The blue area is an elevated shelf, and the green is the desktop:
